So they don't know what they're doing. It's stupidity more than it is just evil. We really think that black people are inferior people. We really think gay people are going to destroy our civilization. And so this is why we use the word enlightenment, bringing people to awareness. Because once you see it, once you see that your scapegoating of another race or group or person has nothing to do with truth, has nothing to do with reality, it's very hard to continue to do it because you've caught yourself at your own game.
But most people, without humility and patience, they'll never catch themselves. They just keep believing the lie. And once you have your ignorant hatred, your justified prejudice, it's a very short road to justified violence.
