An Israeli who grows up assuming that every Palestinian is out to kill them, being told from a young age that you are insecure because these people are out to do to you maybe something similar to what the Nazis did to you. And I've heard this narrative being told by Israeli teachers to Israeli children. The moment somebody is afraid of violence and I engage with them nonviolently that also breaks their perception, breaks their narrative of who I am to them. I need to break that narrative by my action and nonviolence becomes key for the healing process not just for my resistance, for my right, but for healing their expectation and their perception of who I am as a Palestinian.
